Default UIM question

I just bought a buick 1996 and it has 152k on it. I was wondering how you can tell if the gaskets have been changed? the upper and lower intake ones that is. My manifold has oil all over it and looks OLD...I am just not sure...thanks! Garth

It would be hard to tell if it has been changed. You might be able to notice a little silicon that was squeezed out around the UIM, but that might be about it.

Your car is 15 years old..most of that dirt and oil is just natural. My car is only 9 years old, and the UIM is fairly dirty. It's just one of those things that happens when it hasn't been cleaned.

Ok thanks! I was hoping I would see "dorman" stamped on it...
