What year was your regal? If it falls into the 97/04 the airbox is either the one I have or 2k2cse. When you say sucking sound, was this from factory, when you recently purchased it or all of a sudden? Was this at idle or when you give it a moderate amount of gas?

I think his is a 2000 or 02, so it should be one like mine. When I was having trouble with my cat being plugged (also making a sucking sound) some people suggested a vacuum leak (can't remember where right now), or a leaking manifold gasket (LIM i think).

If it's a LIM get the metal 3100-3400 set. As for feltes94, I seen an entire manifold change from plastic to metal around your model year. I've driven many 9C1 impala government fleet vehicles but never went beyond checking fluid levels of the 90*V6 engine.

i talked to my dad he said its just air being sucked it because he is a machanic and we checked its not a seal or anything around the box and we just did all the gaskets in the whole car that was a fun 8 hours to do all them ha but yeah my hose thing from air box is not secured on all the way we had to make shift it to stay on it has a reallly really small leak but its not makeing the sound and it only happens when ur on the gas going not at idel or cruzing only when stepped on and yes its a 2000

My '03 LS has always made that loud sucking sound. You don't hear it in the cab, but step outside and you can hear it clear across the street! Not a vacuum leak though. Definitely coming through the intake opening.
Sounds just like someone took out a sound baffle in the inlet tract or something.
My '04 GS does not have near the same sound. MUCH less pronounced.
I would call the '04 "normal" sounding for a modern car. The '03 definitely sounds like something's amiss.
Both have K&N filters, but the '03 made that sound before I did the swap.
