96 3.8 UIM question
I just bought this Lesabre and its my first buick and things are not going well...first of all I have 1 inch of water in the drivers side rear carpet...now back to the question...I see what looks like orange gasket stuff on the LIM and what looks like spots where oil has leaked from where the UIM and the LIM meet. I have 152k on this and was wondering if its time for the gaskets to be replaced?
The UIM says GM on it so I am thinking it has NOT been replaced...I was thinking that it would say DORMAN of something...what do you think?
the coolant is low...and the car just takes off when driving it without touching the gas...idles at 2500 after a minute of running. I saw the You tube Video about a 95 that said when the car takes off while driving it the coolant was getting into the TPS...Can i say...HELP? lol thanks

Let's hope the coolant in the car isn't Dexcool. You probably are aware of the intake plenum problems from Dexcool.
If you are losing coolant ----- it's leaking into the engine. Check the oil and make sure you are not making soup in there. Have seen this problem a few times already. The plastic intake gets a hole burned in it from the EGR passage and the coolant goes into the engine.

Thanks! I have the series 2 motor...I saw the video on the older motor where that pipe comes in the front top of the intake...mine comes from the back and goes to the bottom...it "looks" like it goes into the aluminum LIM....not sure...I dont mind doing this job if t has not been done...I am just not sure...
