There is a crank sensor down by the front of the engine (pass side). What I have found a few times when this happens is , the crank sensor opens when it gets hot , the engine quits and after a few minutes to cool down it will restart again.
To confirm if this is the problem, run the engine until it quits, shoot some cold water on to the sensor located behind the crankshaft pulley ,if it starts right up the sensor is defective. If that is confirmed to be the problem ,It requires a little work and tools to replace that sensor. Before going into the procedure , lets make sure that is the problem first , OK ?

Hanky has an excellent diagnosis. Have heard of those intermittent problems before, dealers can't seem to ever find or repair. Ford has that problem due to defective O ring I've read. Think even TSB on it.

Makes me think back when the starters themselves would get heat soaked. My '69 road runner was a great one for that (had in '69 not these days). Even today the tracked Boss Mustangs (only ones I follow) have trouble. There's made a thermal cover for that problem and I 'spose better starters, placement, cooler running engines and on and on help with the issue.
