Default got a po440 code

yup, thats a evaporative emmisions system thingy. I am told it could be a Gas cap problem. dont think so. is there a specific sensor I should be looking at?? I know it has to do with the canister, anybody got something specific?

Every time we get a code doesn't mean a sensor is defective.
The cheapest thing you can try and it could be the solution, get a new gas cap.
If the cap isn't on or tight enough it will cause the SES lite to illuminate. If you checked that it could be a defect in the sealing of the cap. It will take a couple of trips for the code to go away, but if it is the cap the light will go out on the next trip.

Smile po440 solved?

I traced all the vacuum lines. Found a few that were questionable and
replaced them. when I finally got to the Charcoal canister (under the air filter and PCM) I think I found the culprit. one of the vacuum connectors just about disentegrated. THe light has gone out, so we will see

Nice work! Hopefully that was the problem!
