'97 Park Ave Ultra: Fuel needle has stopped moving up from "E". Upon closer inspection, it seems to be stuck below the pin that it used to rest on. I believe the sender and connections are good, andall functions of the DIC (Driver Information Center) including fuel functionsDO read out correctly.

So I'm thinking that this is strictly a mechanical problem which will require removing the cluster and resetting the needle.

Has anybody solved this problem or have any recommendations before I start tearing apart my dash? Thanks for any input!

'99 PA Ultra. Same problem. Haven't started searching yet, but wondered if you came across anything? Thanks.

id doubt if the gauge is just stuck. id be more suspicious of the level sensor failing.

Well, do you think there is a separate sensor for the DIC and/or the low fuel light? 'cause they still both work.

I haven't solved the problem yet. I did stop in to see my favorite mechanic. He also thinks its just the needle, but he needs $100 to pull the gauges, lens, and reset. And, of course, no refund if we're wrong. I could do that myself if Iget the time. Also thought about just getting a new gauge set off eBay or a bone yard.

Anyway, the'distance to empty' readout, and the low fuel light keep this from being urgent. Please let me know if anyone solves this.

Thanks,

Brian

one way to do it is extreme but you could drill a small hole in the face of the cluster and with a bent needle pull it back over the stopper.

Yeah, that's been suggested to me in another forum. I agree that it would not be obvious. Probably would do that if I didn't have any other indication of fuel level. Maybe I'll do it as a temporary fix if I find a replacement gauge set. But, I try to keep my cars looking new, and that kind of thing starts a vehicle down the slippery slope to "old".
