97 timing change replacement method

Default 97 timing change replacement method

I am wondering there is anyway you can replace the timing chain on a 97 riviera non supercharged 3.8 without pullin the engine because currently at the moment my engine hoist is broke and I need to figure out how to do this without pullin the engine if possible its my lil sisters car and she is in high school and has a job and needs her car back to runnin asap any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks

There should be a panel behind the R/F wheel that you can remove to gain access to the crank pulley etc. If you remove the stuff that is in the way usually you can access the chain. You must support the engine from the bottom as long as you are careful and don't dent the oil pan.
