93 Buick Lesabre timing gears + cam
#1
I have worked on cars all of my life, but I just bought this car. It has 175,000 miles on it. When you start the car cold it wants to stammer and sometimes stall. It does not interfer with the car's running. I'm getting 27-28 mpg. Could this be the cold start idle sensor or could it be due to the number of miles on it. Also when it is idling in gear, it is loaping. It apparently has some cam wear, but uses no oil. Not smoking. I was wondering if anyone has any idea how many miles should be on this 3.8 liter before I replace the timing chain / gears / lifters / and camshaft? Thanks for any help I can get in advance. no need to post 2 threads on same topic. bump if necessary.
and there is no cold start idle sensor. there is a coolant temp sensor located under the tb. if that was out of spec, it would set a eng code to the ecu. is your ses light on?
