Default 78 sport coupe

like i posted in the new user thread i am buying a 78 regal sport coupe in which i thought was full of rust and the frame wasn't worth saving, well after waiting for the weather to clear up and the ground to dry up enough to move it from the weeds we moved it out fron of the lot where the grass and stuff was dead and i looked under it and saw that the frame wasnt as bad as i first thought, in fact the only part of the frame that is rusted through in need of replacing is the rear bumper mounts, and it needs a few floor pans, and the trunk pan but the tank is new and it has no engine in it, but i am going to rebuild a 305 for it, as i mentioned before it is a 78 regal sport coupe T-top, originally had the turbo 3.8 in it.

i was looking in summit racing magazine for some parts for the 305 im putting in the 78 but there isnt a whole lot of parts for it but i was informed that a 350 is the same block as a 305, so with that being said is it correct that in theory pistons and heads from a 350 should fit on a 305 block? i know that the 350 is a 4bolt main and the 305 is a 2bolt but i have a 305 at my disposal for free and want to build it up as powerful as i can i know a 305 cant really handle as much power as a 350 but its all i have right now.

If you are looking to turn heads with this car, build the 3.8 that is in it. They are unsung heroes. They are a buick 355 with the back two cylinders chopped off. They use buick 355 pistons, rods, valves, valve springs, rocker arms, etc etc. If you use the correct heads for this V6, it will out run your 305. Not to mention the chevy 305 will NOT bolt up to your th350 trans in your buick because it is the BOP bolt pattern, not the chevy one.
