What's new? Got rearended by a dump truck the other day. It looks minor but the inside of the trunk is pushed in. Hope it's not totaled, runs and drives too nice to just part out.

I'll snap a few when it gets light out. I was pretty much done with fixing stuff and was at regular maintnence and mods. I was about to give up on a CAI and just modify the airbox into the fender more. I was also gonna install the Impala Throttle body. For the LG8 it sould be a direct swap but for us we have to dismantle the old linkage and dreamel it to fit the bigger TB plate.

Summer has been long for me too. Working in difrent states and trying to get the Subaru up and running has been entresting.

I was thinking about the LA1 throttle body the last time I was at the JY. Would it really have any benefits over stock?

I haven't done anything with my CAI project either. Since I got the PCM tray, I test fitted it, painted it gold, and haven't touched it since. I'm thinking about just putting a cone filter after the maf and removing the air box until I get some money together to buy a kit for a Grand Am and modify it to fit.

Would give great throttle response wit just a cone but bog when the engine bay heats up. Intake temp sensor shows 120 degree air on a 89 degree day with 197 engine temps on the stock airbox alone. If you could build a heat shield or funnel from the headlight back it could help some. LA1 TB was suppose to be noticeable on a L82 and I think a LG8. the TB on the Alero is even smaller than the Impala. There was a funky dent in the intake and smaller TB, not sure why they sabotage the 3400 not in the impala. Even the 3400 in the vans got sabotaged and I almost fell for it. The UIM in the vans are a shiny polished looking piece of fools gold. The internet was my friend that day in the JY.

Yeah, I was thinking about making a shield that would be similar in shape to the original air box that would mostly take advantage of the fenderwell.

You got me thinking about getting an Impala TB again now haha. Any idea how much needs to be dremeled? Are there any other throttle bodies that would fit the 3100? Maybe from one of the 3500s in the Malibu/G6? I know the new Impala is drive by wire..I'm not sure about those two..

The linkage for LA1 and LG8 are identical for throttle and cruise control. All you do is unhook the cables and hook em back to the new one reusing your sensors. The L82 don't link up the same as you guys so I use the LA1 throttle body housing and plate but dremel the center of my linkage to fit the LA1 TB plate.

You want the entire throttle depending on what year 3100/3400 car you have for the price and filament. All 3400 upper/lower intake manifolds and throttle bodies are not equal. found it out going from car to truck to van. Later I found out all this info and engines stamped 00 are the best and minivan 3400 are the worst. The 3400 minivans have the prettiest intakes and engine covers but are restrictive. Alero has 3400 but intake has a big bubble in it from the factory slightly leaning out 2 cylinders. If you ****** the "3400" engine cover off the minivans, ****** the oil filler cap as well.

00-05 Chevy Impala/Monte Carlo with 3400 engine is where you find the largest throttle body opening. Junk yards is where you find the cars. The yards vary from already having the parts pulled or you have to pull it yourself. I don't remember what all you need for the throttle body besides sockets because I snatched the entire top end minus the heads. I have the older L82 3100 so I have to use part of my old throttle body for it to work or run all new throttle cable and cruise control lines. Newer LG8 3100 engines already directly hook up with throttle cable linkage. Also take into consideration the throttle body has a gasket and the sensors on the new to you throttle body could be bad.

If you just want a TB plate, all these vehicles are LA1 3400
