Hey everyone,

Just a quick hello and thanks for letting me be a part of your online community.

I just picked up a 55 Special 4dr hardtop with 65,000 miles, 264/Dynaflow.

The tie rod broke and I'm assuming that's what ended it's days in 1990 (last date registered) and I'm in the process of getting it back on the road.

My first car was a 1959 Olds Dynamic 88 4dr sedan, emerald teal with a white top.
I've always had a soft spot for these 50's GMs and finally have one again.

I'm learning that there are so many intricacies about these Buicks, I'd appreciate any help any of you can give on this car.

Also, if I know anything (I'm a sculptor/metal fabricator) that can be of use, I'll share what I can.

Thanks all, I'll be posting almost immediately.. haha.

I remember those older Buicks fairly well. Rode like a million dollars compared to today's vehicles.
Owned a 39 Buick coupe, a 53 Roadmaster ,a 55 Roadmaster, an 81 Century , an 84 Century and now a 1990 Century Limited with 145,000+ mi. I remember quite well the large chrome strip that went along the doors and around the rocker panel. The 55 had a red dash with loads of internal chrome and of course the chrome ribs holding up the headliner. Don't know how much help I could be , but will be glad to see some pix when you are done.
