Default Hello from Rough River, KY

Just wanted to say Hello to everyone an introduce my Noobie self. We had a Buick join the family about a month ago, so I figured I needed to find some helpful experts on this model. I look foward to reading & discussing in this forum. We hail from the Rough River area of Ky, 'bout 60 miles out of Louisville.

Welcome to the forum! The Century is a very nice car. My parents bought one brand new in 2004, and it currently has about 350 000kms (~217 000 miles) and still runs like a champ.

That's good to hear. I bought this one with 109K with the intentions of putting about that much more on it. The car looks great & drives great. So far I've only been getting about 25mpg on rural roads & was hoping to get closer to 30. I changed the nasty air filter to get that. It was a little less. Of course it could be the way my wife drives it too.

25 don't seem too bad. I usually average 26 on a 90% highway trip. You could probably get a little better mileage by replacing the plugs and wires and the fuel filter, if it hasn't been done already.

Plugs don't look like much fun on the back side of this 3.1 motor. Any tips on changing the plugs on the firewall side?

I don't have any experience with the ones in the century, but in the 1995 lumina with the 3.1 my parents had a few years ago, they were a pain. You might be able to wiggle your way down there, and with enough extensions on your socket, work them out. I think its just one that causes a lot of problems trying to access. If you can't get them out like that, you will probably have to jack up the motor to give you the clearance needed.
