Default Transmission Problems.

I have the 2006 Lucerne with the v6. When I drive between 50 and 60 it goes in and out of overdrive. If I drive below 50 or above 60 everything is fine. Car has 102,000 miles and has not had the rransmission flushed and filters done. In googling I get a variety of opinions. Most seem to say the service has a better than average chance of causing more serious transmission problems. Should I just drive in 3rd unless I'm going over 60 then manually shift to OD and hope I can get a lot more service from. my transmission or........

What you might consider would be to have the vehicle computer checked for any codes.

It would help provide some direction. Autozone doesn't charge for this service.

Will do. Not good with newer cars. Always had experienced a dash light, check engine soon, or something then knew to have computer checked. Thanks

Unfortunately, not all problems will throw a code.
Then a problem may require at least 2 times when something malfunctioned before the service lite will illuminate.
Then, some codes will remain in the memory even if the problem corrected itself a few times and the light again will not come on.
Of course there are those that will illuminate the service lite instantly if it affects emissions and those stay on.
