Does anyone have experience changing from a standard auto dimming mirror on an 05 LeSabre to a on-star type mirror.

I don't have on-star on my car but recently purchased an on-star(with compass) mirror to get the compass. Is it a big deal to swap mirrors ?

Appreciate any help.

The compass is integral, so that should not be a big deal. However, the OnStar mirror requiresadditional wiring which may or may not be separate. If there isno spot for your existing harness to plug in, you will have to figure out how to connect the new mirror. I guess you realize that the OnStarfeaturesusually cannot be made to work.

Thanks foryour reply.YesI know the on-star won't work butI just wanted the compass feature. I had a compass and a thermomter on my previous car so I was hoping to get at least half of it. I bought a Mirror on e-bay so it should be interesting to install it.I don't have a book yet so I'm now scrounging for info.

Thanks again,
