The compressor
in my 1989 Buick LeSabre has gone out in March 2004, December 2004, and
now January 2006. My mechanic, who I trust, said that the last
two times the bearing was shot to pieces. The problem announces
itself by making a tremendous noise. The last two compressor
replacements are two too many! Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Get a junk yard compressor for $50.00 Vs a rebuilt one.

Yes you can use an idler pulley or install a "bypass" shorter belt for cars without A/C.

Vin C motors have the routing printed on the underhood sticker. I ran one for about 2 yrs as my compressor bearing went bad and my A/C leaked.
