i (female with little car engine knowledge) recently was given a 2002 buick
lesabre- it was my grandmothers. after a shotty oil change ( oil filter was
not tightened as it should have been- oil leaked etc)i was told that there
is something with the barrings and we will need a new engine
thoughts? suggestions? do we really need a new engine??? i know the lack
of oil can ruin the engine- it was not driven far after the oil light went on-
the oil was change- correctly and the person didn''t hear anything that was
wrong... i drove it another week, then it started making knocking sounds at
random- now we need a new engine!

i would take it to a mechanic that was trusted, have him listen to it, theres a few different things that it could be.
