Default Courtesy lights don't turn off - 98 Park Ave

Courtesy lights don't turn off and sometimes they would come on while driving - at night! Including the big blinding one center front of the ceiling. I thought it was one of the switches that is activated by the door latches but I noticed that the "Security" message lights up when the doors are opened and turns off when the doors are closed - all of them. Switches are apparently working. These lights are on a timer and prior to this becoming a problem the interior lights would stay lit for about 15-20 seconds after closing the door. I've dismantled both front and back doors looking for suspect wiring that might be damaged but nothing. If my Chilton's is correct (and sometimes it is) the switches for the courtesy lights are on the ground side. Something called the "Remote Accessory Control Panel" is on the positive side of the circuit and a "Panel/Interior Light Control "is on the ground or negative side. I've looked in the fuse boxes under the hood (both of them) and the one under the back seat and the one hiding behind the glove box and cannot identify these items because General Motors decided to use unrelated abbreviations on the associated diagrams. Anyone know where these things are or have experienced this problem themselves?
