the positive wire that goes from your starter to the aux is probably hitting a ground... or is grounded.

more than likely..

id check to make sure the ground to chasse is correct.
if you have a haines manual you will be able to figure it out.
but if not... i suggest you get one. or see if your local library has
an online catalog like mine does.

ok your brights work...

so were talking about your headlights right?

i was thinking your light dimmer inside the car
the same problem is probably happening.

when you switch the lights on with out the brights on
do the lights just shut off? or do they stay bright?

no when on dim they dont come on at all, u can switch to bright and they come on. its just funny how all of a sudden they just quit working we checked the wireing and 4 of the prongs on the outside is not getting juice so im sure its the dim lights. i found a dot three prong fuse thing under the dash going to try to change it says a cluster flasher fuse so wondering if that could be it when you use the switch to turn to bright that fuse clicks so do you thing it could be in that fuse??? it might not be a fuse but its what im calling it enclosed in a plastic case.

well again thanks for your help. I took it to a mechanic he said it was the switch that i needed to replace i have a pull on light switch as well it works when pulled on but the problem was when i went to switch from dim to bright with the dimmer switch the lights do not work on dim only on bright same thing when i turn them on with the pull switch not on dim only on bright. the dimmer switch is included with my cruise control and turn signals part they said was 336.00 and the labor est with part is 550.00 i will have to save, just ordered a starter for the car it will start at times other times was not starting if you tap on the starter when it would not start it would start. I cannot complain this has been a good car but not being driven much its going down hill i have not had alot of problems till now.

thanks again will keep you posted.

jnlb, before you invest several hundred dollars in a new dimmer switch, check your local salvage yards for a used one, try it. Most will last a long time and if you have to pay 25-30 dollars for one from there, it could last forever, if not you''re not out a big amount of money, and you found your problem.
