Default Power Steering Pump Pulley

I have a 1996 Buick Century 3.1 V6. Just put a new power steering pump on it and put the pulle on the wrong way. Is there any way to get that off without damaging the new pump or the shaft?

You might try a puller with a wide spread to go around the outer sides of the pulley.
That way you lessen the chances of damage to the inside parts of the pump.

Thanks. I'll take that as a compliment since I don't get too many of them !
How did you get the pulley off the old pump?
With the right puller (two halves and a sleeve) , we don't usually forget how it came off.
Are you using the right tools?

Default Power Steering Pump Pulley

Check the belt to see if it has too much tension. It should have 1 inch deflection per 1 foot of belt. If it is too loose it will slip off. If it is too loose it will create too much heat and break eventually. The pump usually makes a winning noise and usually when turning. The pulley is going to make noise all the time (with variations in temp such as a cold morning)
