1996 Century Custom needs work (engine)
Hi everyone I am new here, new to car forums. I was hoping to get some opinions from experienced Buick owners. My 96 Century Custom needs engine work, intake manifold most likely (oil in my coolant) and I was told the work may come to $1000.00. I also believe my transmission is going down hill which I'm sure is another big ticket repair. I have 137K miles on it, and have kept up with routine maintenance. Just not sure how well it was taken care of before I got it.
In your experience, how long (or miles) does this car have? Would it be worth it to put the money into the repairs? I really love this car and it has been very good to me for the 3 yrs I've had it and I hope to pass it down to my teenager because it seems to be a very reliable and safe vehicle.
Thanks in Advance.

These cars generally go well over 200,000 miles before ever needing internal engine work, however, they did have a problem with the intake plenum. It had to be replaced because coolant was leaking internally and if corrected early, otherwise, just had routine work required. From what you describe it sounds like you like the car and in that case probably would be worth having it repaired SOON ! Like ASAP.
