adding mp3/CD player
#1
I purchased a 99 Buick Century with 3.1L. The car has only tape player and AM/FM radio. Is it possible for me to change that tape player to a mp3 player or CD player, or just simply add a CD player to the front panel? Usually how much does that cost? thanks

The easiest way is to get a cassette adapter which your MP3 or CD player can plug into. If your radio had CD changer capability, an adapter can plug into that, but it's fairly complicated. Usually, unless you feel strongly about the factory look, it's just better to get a new receiver. Look at Crutchfield.com to see what's available. Theseoften have front panel auxiliary inputsand MP3 or other decoding built in, whichare rare in a factory unit.
Another possibility is a factoryCD receiverfrom a junk yard or eBay, but you do take on more risk that it won't work or won't be compatible with your particular car.

ITs pretty easy to do. I have a full on system in my car. I have a pioneer head unit, you need a dash kit, you also need a wire harness and some patience.
let me know if you need any more info.
i did it myself and spent about 500 on the stereo. (could do it cheaper if i wanted to.)
