Hello everyone,


Got a problem with the "check engine" light coming on intermittantly. Went on a long distance trip and and had to stop about every 2 hours for 5 minutes and then it would go off. Hadn't had the light come on any since while driving in the city, but now it acts like it about to stall and shut down when i'm driving on the expressway. I also have to really press down on the accelator to give it gas to get it up to speed "60 - 70"/mph.


I've read some of the posts that kind of relates to the same thing but no one seems to return back on what really worked for them. Do i need to have the "fuel pressure regulator" changedor the "mas air flow sensor" changed or is it just simply flushing the transmission?


All ideas are welcomed before it dies on the highway andsaving the expense of having it towed :-)

Well you could look at a couple of things. I had a similar problem. TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) is a possbility and needs to be replaced....easy job.


Another is the cam sensor. On the side of the engine there is a sensor that reads a magnet from the cam every turn. This advances your timing during acceleration. If this magnet is gone or moving, the sensor does not pick up the signal andthe engine stutters. What will eventually happen is the timing chain cannot take the sudden surges and will tear off the teeth of the timing sproket.


The MAS is also possible, but run codes and see if you get anything.

Just wanted to let everyone know who has looked at this post that my problem was solved by changing out the fuel filter. I'vealso become selective at where i get fuel. The mechanic found alot of mud in the filter.


Since then i notice a great difference in how the car drives on the highway. not as sluggish as it was getting. hope this helps for future reference if you're having the same problem.

Make sure all of your spark plug wires are securly on the spark plugs.
