The shift lever moves freely but the indicator stays in the D position so the car doesn't start because it's as if it's in Drive. The dashboard powers up, but the remote doesn't work. Interior lights don't come on when door is opened. I recently replaced the battery but everything was fine for awhile after that.

OK, I'm seeing there have been lots of views, but no replies. I've had it towed to my regular mechanic. Maybe I'll post an update later.

Just got a call from the mechanic. He asked how old the battery is. I told him I just bought it new about two weeks ago. He says it's a year and a half old and that could be the problem. What is the shelf life for a new battery?
