Default 1996 roadmaster wagon [simple?] question

lttle bit of help plz guys. i am looking at a pretty nice 1996 roadmaster wagon. i want to use it as a tow vehicle for a small travel trailer.
i am getting weird information [from online of course] as to towing capacity for the car.
when i search the specifications, i get charts saying the 1991 thru 1995 roadmasters were rated to tow 5000 lbs.
BUT the chart i get for 1996 is showing only 2000 lb capacity.
can that be correct? the drive-train is the same as earlier ears. when i check coil spring replacement parts i get the same part number for the 1996 as the earlier years.
any input is most welcome
i am getting the VIN and plan to ask a buick dealer, but figured you all know as much [more!] than the dealership
thank you
bob
