Default Axle Removal

Hi. Brand new here. I'm restoring a 72 Riviera GS. I cannot seem to get the axle out. I know theres a C clip in there but I cannot get the clutches out to access it.

Any ideas?

Can't vouch for a Riviera but probably has rear drum brakes? C clip sounds reasonable but to pull axles put drum on backwards and lugs loosely. Can use drum as a hammer pull device by forcefully banging drum back and forth against lug nuts. Axels will pop right out, no damage. Did my '69 road runner on 2 occasions as such, wheel bearings and a new pig (diff. gears).

But wait, was that the front wheel drive car? One back then didn't have the drive shaft hump, think it was the Riveria. Have to look this up now.

Nope, at least the '72 was rear wheel drive......
