My 1991 Buick Regal Gran Sport was factory installed with a ABS master cylinder unit which cost $1300 (Rock Auto) because General Motor engineeringgeniuses integratedthe master cylinder with the hydraulic assembly.

ROCK AUTO specification:
1991 BUICK REGAL 3.8L 231cid V6 MFI (L) : Brake/Wheel Hub : ABS Hydraulic Unit A-1 CARDONE Part # 123307 {remanufactured}

I need to fix this because brake fluid leaks from the firewall side of the master cylinderwhen the brake pedal is applied.

I've moth balled this car for ten years, trying to find someone with a better option before I shuck out $1300 for this master cylinder, which may be another nightmare to install.

HELP - Does anybody out there know more about this ?

Can I have the unit rebuilt ?

Could I install a standard master cylinder and bypass the ABS ?
