antilock brake sensor
#1
We were wondering if there were many people with Regals that are having difficulty with the antilock brakes sensors. We have had to replace the left rear once and will have to replace the right wheel sensor. Ours is a 2000, LS model. This is a costly repair and with each wheel containing one we are upset and afraid that this is going to continue with the remaining two wheels.

the rear sensors just press in. Much cheaper repair. The front ones on the other hand are integrated into the wheel bearing assembly. Much more expensive to repair. A good shop will have a meter to hook up and diagnose if the sensor is defective or not. I agree with the former post: get a second opinion because I think your mechanic is just replacing until he/she finds the problem and then you get stuck with the tab.

Use a DVM right at the sensor - should be slightly more than 1000 ohms
I had a break in the wire going to the R F wheel. Pulled the codes at Advance Auto for free. Then used a DVM to check resistance and whether the sensor was shorted to ground or open. My sensor read about 1080 ohms. GM value for a good sensor in this hot weather is in the range of 1000 to about 1400 ohms. If sensor appears good check out the wiring. Mine was broken about 3 inches from the body connector. Autozone help and repairs gives you a sorta schematic. Log on and create an ID and print it out. Worst was finding the pinouts for the large ABS connector. Mine has 3 rows of small round pins numbered A! - A11, B1 - B11, and C1 - C11. There are 4 other large square pins, top 2 are +12volts and bottom 2 are ground.
Several TSBs on the cables breaking at places where the cable can move.
Ohm yours out before putting in a new hub. If it is a broken wire replacing the hub is just a waste of time and money and WILL NOT fix the problem.
