I saw a aftermarket one where the air box was. There are 3 places the pre 99 air box screw down to fab a bracket. The newer ones just pop in and out.

I was asking around about the ECU question. The options were ECU bracket from a 4th gen F Body or 3rd gen Blazer.

So do you think being out in the elements, even being wrapped in plastic, would cause any damages? Like water getting in, and not coming out.. I'm a little leery about it being out in the open. haha.I have a feeling if I ever tried it, with my luck, water would get in and corrode everything.

You said you already replaced one? The ecu is "sealed" off to the world in that metal case. Even the harness is bolted not clipped on. My ECU has salt stains on it from the inside of the airbox. My Subaru ECU is under the steering wheel and the size of a radar detector. I know this cause I cut the chime out...LOL!

I haven't replaced mine, just had it out with the air box. I never really looked at it then because I wasn't thinking about doing a CAI then. I just remember that the ECU in a 1996 my parents had a few years ago corroding and actually breaking open because it was located on the passenger side wheel well/fender. If it wasn't for that, I probably wouldn't even be having these concerns. haha.

Gonna see what the brackets look like. They may cover it or just hold it still but exposed.

I just found this kit. I don't really like the "dryer hose" tubing, but it seems like its the only thing that will work in these cars. The Century/Regal isn't listed, but I'm guessing the 1997-2003 Grand Prix would essentially be the same..

EDIT: I forgot to mention earlier, it has the ECU tray too..

I got a dead redirect. I think I know what you saw. The other forums suggest building my own with exhaust/turbo intercooler pipe. I just read up on the coolant bottle swap. I have to cut it to fit the abs unit. I did dry test it and was wondering why it sat higher than the car I yanked it from. Looks like I will just sell the air box and go fender CAI.

The link works fine for me But this is the picture:

Its weird how they made so many changes to the engine bay when they changed to the LG8..you'd think they'd just put the 3800 from the Regal in it... I find mine to be really lacking when I need power, which happens a lot sometimes.

I can't wait to see how you do the fender-well CAI. It might give me some motivation to do it with mine if I don't get a new car soon.

N/A 3800 is not that night and day. If I swapped it would be a S/C one. Debating if I want to do PVC piping. Have to see what the brackets look like 1st before fabing something up. I might even use the zip tube for the LG8 since it doesn't have multiple bends like the L82 to save me from having to cut up a coupler. Still debating that intake temp sensor extension.

Now the pic shows up!. There is one that is like that but filter is inline with it. Not cheap even on ebay.

K&N Apollo.

Will head to J yard to find trunk popper and ECU bracket today. Hope I score on both. The popper is still there on the 2 cars I just have to figure out how it hooks up. Just need to pull up the stock and row number for the possible ECU trays. Lots of GMs had them in the air box apparently. Even the LA1 I got my UIM/LIM and Throttle body had the same air box.

Friday I will be ordering both of these. Blue reflective and not sure what the mirrors are gonna say. Will think of something soon.
