I'm a old Buick mechanic, well not too old...just feel old? I was a mechanic at 2 Buickdealerships thru the 80'sup to2003. I also worked at GM technical assistance for a couple years.I own a 1968 Buick LeSabre 2 door, and a 1969 Buick LeSabre 4 door. The 69 needs a engine,a Buick 350. I worked drivability with the 80's carbs, and early 3.8 V6 stalling and etc. I did own a 87 Buick Century T Type until my son totaled it out. I also have loved Buick's. I would like some advise on restoring my 2 LeSabre's input welcome!

Hello,

I am beginning to restore a 1988 Skylark, starting with a sharp new paint job and some slick rims/tires. I want to know how hard it is to troubleshoot the AC system, which does not work at all. No fan blows, no compressor comes on, zip. When I got the car, the AC was freezing cold, and after a while it just stopped. That was several years ago. Now that summer is coming, I want to find out if I can do the work myself or plunk down the coin to have someone else do it.

Any ideas about where to start?

Thanks

You would enjoy a 455 in the car that needs a engine more then the 350. The engine mounts are the only change out and either the th 350 or 400 will bolt up and in. 342 gears and youll have a stage one like combo. Fuel economy the same as the 455 as long as you leave your foot out of it. 480le tranny and youll have one heck of a beautiful combonation.
