Hello. Can anyone out there help me ? I've recently bought a 1955 Pontiac that has had a 'Buick' engine fitted by a previous owner. I would like to find out: 1) Where the engine number is and capacity [DVLA registering] 2) Possible age (?) [for parts]. I can e.mail a photo(s) of the engine to view.

I have been told by previous owner that he thinks it is possibly an early seventies engine as it has an electronic distributor (which would not fit earlier engines) ???

Any help appreciated. Thanks. PhilEdited by: phil bennett

Early 70s is alot of engines. Is it red or blue? The engine code is going to be (on most) stamped on the below the head on the block, drivers side between the first 2 spark plugs. The year is stamped (on most) at the rear casting where the tranny will bolt too. Edited by: Troys 69 GS 400
