I have a 1969 Buick Electra 225 Custom was told it was a special order and only 5 were made The cowl tag trim code TR first part is hard to read. I can read TR ___CO-977. Does anyone know what the first 1 or 2 missing numbers/letters are and what it means?
Thank You, Robert
Hi Robert,
I used to take people for tours through the GM Assembly plant many years ago. They made Buicks Olds, and Cadillac vehicles.
It costs a fortune to change an assembly line and I seriously doubt they changed it to make only 5 vehicles. Something doesn't sound right there..
When I get a chance I will try to see if I have any service material that goes back that far. Meantime, keep looking.
Thank You for the information. The original owner was a personal friend of the CEO at the time. The CEO told him the customer always gets what they want.
He told him ok I can not build one I must build 5. I am not sure what was done. The paint is regal black and the interior is different. I am going to try and post
the cowl tag.
That is a tough one to dispute, although at the time I took the tours through, they paid a woman to touch up all the inside trim screws with a pointed brush and matching paint.. I don't know about now, but at that time One of the tour members was a supervisor for a major oil co and when he saw how the Cadillacs were assembled , he went out the next day and bought one for his personal vehicle. AND that is true, even amazed me.

I found out the first letter of the trim code is S. The code is SCO-977 Special Car Order . Not sure what the 977 code refers to yet.
Thank You, Robert
