Default Spark Plug Shields Missing

Hello Everyone:

I am tuning up my 2001 Buick LaSabre and
I checked all of the plug wires at the engine
and did not find any heat shields on any of them.

Can I leave them off or should I purchase replacement
for all six of them?

With them off, will it affect the engine' performance?

3.8L engine

Thank you so kindly for any response to this question!

Found my answer to this question.

Poll: To reuse or not to OEM Spark Plug Heat Shield - LS1TECH

It seemed half of the pollee did not use them after
removing them.

The only reason for them is to protect the boot from
making contact to the HOT header.

They had a recall that told us to remove them along with the engine cover. Needless to say I kept mine on. The engine looks stupid without its cover imo.
