Reoccurring P0496
Hello. I keep having issues with a reoccurring P0469 EVAP System High Purge Flow code in my 05' Lesabre Custom with about 198,000 miles. I've had the code at least 4 times before and have replaced the solenoid purge valve and gas cap multiple times but specifically the solenoid valve keeps failing. I have tried cheap solenoid purge valves and more expensive ones from AC delco. I can't imagine I just keep getting deflective valves and I think there has to be a problem somewhere else causing them to fail. Anyone have any ideas?
Same issue 2003 lasabre, 4 going on 5 purge valves, AC delco as well as cheap ones, I am getting from 3 days to about a year. I am going to try cleaning the current one with MAF cleaner. code p1441, this time but has caused other codes in the past.
Are you referring to the valve near the fuel tank area or the item on the front of the intake manifold, under the sight shield?
I got a code for the front solenoid. I replaced it with an aftermarket part from a chain auto supply. In the Facebook group on 8th Gen LeSabres, this name brand was stated to not be as good as the ACDelco item. I put it on, cleared the codes, and all was well for about a week, then the code returned. As the car was still running fine, I ignored it. About a week ro so later, I noticed the CEL had gone out. No codes. Been that way every since.
As to the valve near the fuel tank, I had gotten one initially just in case. Still in the box.
Recently, it was noted in a DIY emall that I get, that over-filling the fuel tank can cause reliability issues with that rear mechanism. Letting raw fuel get to where only vapors are supposed to be. I suspect that GM has allowed for this, to an extent? I consistently put the fuel nozzle end barely but securely at its end, then click the speed to the lowest/slowest level. When it clicks off, after allowing for a bit of settling, another slow-fill click and it clicks off again about /10ths gallons later. Fueling ended at that point. I also try to have the front of the car aimed downhill and the lh side of the car higher than the right hand side, for good measure. I've used this "2nd click" method for ages, even on carbureted vehicles.
Just my experiences,
