Default Electric Door Locks Failed

The electric door locks on my 1995 LeSabre Custom failed.

It was a very sudden failure. One day they worked, the next day they didn't.

It seems like a fuse or broken wire problem.

What is a good way to track down the problem? Where in the electrical system do I want to start?

Thanks for the help.

If you have the owner's manual check the fuse section and it will give you the fuse location and what the fuse protects. If not, I would suspect the ,driver's door, switch assy. Everything has to go through the main switch to work. Sometimes when they get wet it shortens the life of the switches.

I have the shop manual as well.

I will find the fuse and check that first.

The driver's door, window switch assembly needs to be replaced anyway.

Any suggestions on where to get one?

Thanks,

Neal

You hit me with two questions.
If the fuses/circuit breakers/relays are all OK, then the other possibility could be the wiring in the driver's door where it flexes as you open and close the door.
When I need special parts I usually start with a GM dealership parts dept. Many parts like window switches etc. are the same in more than one division (chev, pontiac, buick).
Of course there is always the salvage yard and you may be able to learn the best way to remove the switch without "altering" your car.

Hang on to that shop manual, they are worth their weight in gold these days !!
