Default DIY Article: Replacing the EGR Valve on a 2000 LeSabre

Hello gentlemen,

The EGR valve on a 2000-2005 LeSabre is integral to reducing the amount of harmful exhaust gases released into the atmosphere as well as allowing your engine to run smoothly. Therefore, it is crucial that you promptly replace the EGR valve on your LeSabre if it goes out. Here is a walk-through on the replacement procedure:

--Parts--
Replacement EGR valve (L36) engine (1) quantity req'd $318.12 - $188.26

1) Disconnect the electrical connector from the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve.

2) Remove the two EGR valve retaining nuts.

3) Remove the EGR valve.

4) Remove the gasket from the EGR valve inlet pipe.

5) Clean the EGR valve inlet pipe of dirt and debris.



To Install:

1) Install a new gasket on the EGR inlet pipe.

2) Install the EGR valve and two nuts. Tighten the nuts to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).

3) Connect the EGR valve electrical connector.

Default Cheaper delco valve

If u need a valve, amazon has delco valves for $120. You have to get a gasket though, but another $10.
