I own a Buick Regal Custom 1994 with the 3800 engine. My EGR seem to be
defective (seem to close to slowly or be leaky). GM have many similar
egr valve but with different part number. Some are really usual but
other (like mine) are very hard to find used. Anyone know if I can put
anyone or if I need the exact model ?

Finally found that any valve from 3800 engine will fit if same electrical connector is used

The engine goes dead when passing from something around 2200rpm (like
on the highway) to near idle. Sometime I've got also a rough idle.

No symptoms when the car was cold; the EGR valve does'nt open until certain conditions are reach.

My EGR valve was'nt leaky, the was that it does'nt close as fast as
needed. I seem to have a spring inside the valve that help to close and
staying closed. on my old valve we heard that the spring is broken.

The rough idle was caused by the exhaust back pressure pussing on the valve seat. Causing leaky-like valve symptom.

Sorry for my poor english. Hope it will help

just a suggestion , you might remove your throttle body. and just in side the intake , there is a port that supplies a vaccum to your EGR valve , sometimes this port gets cloged with carbon , hince shuts off vacume to the EGR valve , causing bad idle condition . and can also cause hard and excive fuel consumpition . good luck
