while in cruise control sometimes speedometer needle jumps back and forth erratically. the speed of the car does not seem to change. this also sometimes occurs when driving without cruise engaged. any ideas on what problem could be?

 

Sounds like it could be a bad ground somewhere. Check the connection going into the instrument panel to make sure there's a good connection there too
