I recently bought the Lesabre (and have a window regulator on order from ebay), shocking isn't it? Anyway, the vehicle has the original battery and I would like to replace it. I am probably going to get one from the dealer, to keep the right fit in the space under the seat.

My question is, if I install the new battery, is the stereo going to require some type of security code to get it working again? The vehicle came with no code.

Space under the seat??? I guess you mean under the hood. Any supplier will have a battery to fit your Buick. WalMart will sell you a battery that Consumer Reports has rated highly, for about half what your dealer will charge.

The stereo might require a security code. I believe that all those that require it will show a flashing red light when the ignition key is out. If you do have that light, it could need a code which the previous owner had set. There may be a dealer default code. Newer vehicles are keyed to the VIN (so you won't have the problem), but I don't know if yours uses that system. You can also buy a 9v battery connection which plugs into your lighter and maintains memory while the cables are changed,

The battery for the Lesabre is under the rear seat. Thanks for the info on the security code.

Oh, sorry! I have a similar Park Avenue which has the battery under the hood and assumed yours would too. Still, I would expect that others would make a battery for you. Its just that whenever I have to goto the dealer I end up spending more than necessary, so its kind of a last resort. They seem to charge you $100 fordriving in!

But on the other hand, your dealer should be able to give you a definite answer on the kind of security code you have, as well as how to reset it.

Thanks for the info. I got my window regulator replaced, and I didn't even break any of the plastic trim screws! I used the instructions I found in this forum.......saved me about $400.
