Default 1997 Lesabre rear window defroster

Hello,

I have a 97 Lesabre in which the rear window defroster quit working. The light on the switch comes on, power to both sides of the fuse. I see no nicks or rubs anywhere in the grid, although, none of the defroster works at all. Any ideas or advice? Thanks in advance

I believe there is a relay that controls the circuit to the rear defogger. The owner's manual should tell you where it is located.

I located the relay and can hear it clicking when I activate or turn off the switch. Any other ideas?

The next step is to use a voltmeter and see if there is any voltage being sent to the defroster grid itself.

There is a connector and radio antenna isolator for the rear window grid on my 1998 that's on the passenger side C pillar. Pull off the piece that has the roof material that is held onto the C pillar; it has two plastic waffle pins I call them. There is a box and the connection may not be good or may be burned for the power to the defogger. On mine there's a radio antenna wire and that's the source for the antenna which is the same grid as the fogger.

Did you have a symptom of static in the AM radio when the antenna was working the last times?

Test if you have power to that box, if your car has one there. Test to be sure the other side of the fog grid is grounded.

My 2003 Buick Park Ave Ultra has the same problem
i was told it might be a relay since the fuse is good
the defogger just quit one day, guess i'll check the manual
