My grandparents have a1994 Lesabre and it is driving me crazy right now. The car only has 65,000 miles on it but it is crapping out now. The problem began about 3 months ago when it began to studder while I was cruising on the interstate. Now it not only studders but it also surges at times as well (at the stop light, while driving, etc). The Check Engine light did come on andit has been back and forth from thedealership (at least four times). First, theydid a full tuneup (plugs, wires, filters)-- not the answer. Second, they replaced cam sensors-- notthe answer. Third, they replaced the ignition module sensor-- not the answer. Last, they replaced the throttle sensor-- once again, not the answer. My grandparentshave just spent more than thebook value for this car andstill have notfound the remedy. This sucks b/c these two are over 90 years old and depend on this car in times of emergency. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Obviously the problems are getting greater than your resources, time, and involvement. Im sorry to hear that.

You never mentioned the code the Check Engine Light gave you.

I dont know what you mean by the ignition module sensor.

IGNITION MODULE SENSORS:

Cam sensors:, runs rough but runs.throws cam sensor codes.

Camshaft sensors:. bucks and halts the engine?? also throws Cam sensor codes, sometimes makes irratic speedometer symptoms.

Test the car while in the driveway running it up mildly to 1800 rpm. while holding the brake to watch for symptoms.

The surging is the real clue to the computer thinking it needs to
increase the speed of the engine or a bad plug wire or something
started working. Either from a sensor or the computer itself. I
suspect the computer or a ground wire on a sensor.. Look in the
library for a book or buy one online.

If it shudders during a Idle try to see if it is loping or irregular.

Loping indicating a cylinder or coil.

Irregular is, fuel, sensors, vaccuum leak (something that affects all cylinders at a time)

From your discription its a bad ground or computer. 0- $100 bucks.

A computer cant tell itself its sick.

Shudder

Possibly water in fuel. (simple additive)

Possibly fuel flow.

Possibly still the plug wires. (my car)

Possibly coil pack. or coil pack ground screw 7/32 socket. (one of 3)

Possibly the VSS vehicle speed sensor.. You might see the spedometer swing wrong.

I own a 94 lesabre and a 94 Park Avenue. I get to swap parts.

Good luck.
