I ahve a 1998 Century Custom 3.1L engine. On the way home last Monday, it ate the serpentine belt. After replacing it, I find the belt is not tracking on the harmonic balancer/idler pully. This forces it to ride on the balancer and "eat the belt". I ataried a new idler pully and it did not solve the problem. I bouhgt the car new and it has 165,000 miles. Is it possible that the harmonic balancer has backed out? Has anyone else had this probloem?
