Default Replaced Odometer - whose miles am I seeing?

Hey there -

Hi, I'm new to the forum because I just bought a 2002 Park Avenue.

I got a pretty good deal on it because the digital section of the gauge cluster was non-functional, including the odometer and the gear display.

I just replaced the gauge cluster with a salvage yard unit. when I plug it in, which number do I see? If the old car's mileage, what can I do to correct it to the car's mileage? I'm hoping it's the salvage car from which it came...I don't like it as an answer to a car that I now own...

Those numbers can be changed, but you need the equipment to do that.

You will be seeing the mileage that was on the vehicle the unit came from.

Is there any way to read the info from the cluster, just to know the number? Seems like it’s in pretty good shape - I’d be willing to pay for a rebuild of the cluster if it’s low miles - but I’d like to know that number first. Is there a tool/reader that could provide that info?

I think the only way to see those readings is to look at the vehicle's history report.
