Programming key fobs

I had to purchase 2 new(from Ebay) remotes for my 1997 Park
Avenue. They are the correct remotes for the car. I
received programming instructions with them but in the connector under
the dash, there is no wire in hole #8.(it says to jump pin 4 and pin
8) Were these the correct instructions or is there another way?
