Welcome to the forums! I see there is a few post like this and I put them here to get a better Idea. Before we move to text below are we talking about the actual dash gauges or the dimmer/headlight switch?
A general youtube video will get you the visual how-to for removing the dash. Usualy after that you end up with only 4 screws holding the gauges into the dash and a harness. Once you get the gauges out it may be similar to the PRND321/Miles issue that the Century/Regal guys had. Resistors heating up and becoming unsoldered over time and needed to be resoldered or replaced with better ones from Radio Shack. You would remove the back black piece where you would replace the bulbs and the board should come out w/o disturbing the tape. Just pull with some but not great force so you don't snap the board.

Welcome to the forum usa203.
What merc said. Is it just the lights on the dash, the odometer lights, or does the headlights and everything come on as if you turned on the headlight switch? Merc covered the second scenario. If it is the first or third, it may be a problem in your headlight switch or ambient light sensor.
