exterior transmission seals
Hello all,
I'm new to the forum. Purchased a 1987 Buick LeSabre LS this past summer.
I did a search and nothing came up so I am starting a new thread.
Transmission is still fine, but seals are old and I am leaking from the dipstick grommet and apparently the side pan higher up.
I have a picture of the engine from my local dealer but I can't tell where the side pan is. Is it on the driver's side (from the inside of the car) or right-hand side or closer to the firewall.
I think I'm going to replace all of the exterior seals. Do I have to drop the tranny to do this? Trying to anticipate the expense.
Also, the part number that the GM dealer gave me is 8644902 and my aftermarket parts dealer can't find anything in Canada but they are looking...
Any info about the above would be appreciated.
