will the fuel pump on 92 roadmaster 5.7 only run when in tank ?

im not sure exactly what you are asking.

do you mean, can you test it when you remove it from the tank?

yes i want to know if it i can test it before i put it back in the tank etc thanks .roadmaster

yes, just hook up 12 volts to it. just make sure to have a rag near the outlet if theres any fuel in it.

but dont run it for more than a second or two. its not good to run them dry.
