98 regal died ("loc") on radio lcd

does anybody know what it means when "loc" appears on the radio lcd and the car is basically dead? it started a few minutes later like nothing was wrong. i think this has happened to me before in a 96 mustang which i had to "junk" please help,cant afford a new one (or a new used one) right now. also,... my a/c does not work. i brought it in for an oil change last week (to a local garage) and asked about fixing the a/c..... $1300.00 !!!??? doesnt seem right. im hoping i dont have another lemon on my hands. i would appreciate any input. (asap)

"Loc" indicates that the theftlock feature on your radio has activated. That happens if power is disconnected, so that if someone steals your radio, it won't work.


You need to know the three digit code to reset.I think there is a default code which will work if nobody has reset it. Or a dealer can reset it.


You probably have corroded battery cables or ground wires somewhere.
