Hello.

1995 Buick Park Ave. Under hood on label reads OBD1 compliant, yet when I try to connect my GM OBD1 reader to the connecter under near the gas pedal, it will not fit?! I tried connecting an OBD2 connector to it, and it fits, but the diagnostic tool will not read.

Has anyone else had this experience?

Can someone explain how I am to retreive codes?

Is there a reader out there for mine?

Never heard of that one, I thought the 95 was the last MYfor the OBD I, 96 was the 1st MY for OBD II.

2 things to check

1. Did you look at the connector (on the car) to verify the size, shape and pin - the OBD I and II connectors are very different, so you cannot make a mistake.

2. There are different OBD II protocols - you may not have a tool that is compatable with the Buick (is yours for a VW ?)

During those years there were OBDI systems with OBDII connectors.
Stores must have the special manufactures cable to fit these differences. Luckily my area does.

Its like having an OBD 1.5

Both my 94' Buicks have this issue.
