Hello, I recently acquired my mom's '91 park avenue while i was fixing my other ride. The problem is thatit doesn't go into first all the time. It will still go into first, but it's very rare. For example, I was driving around tonight and it shifted into first gear at least ten times. That's the only time this month. Does anybody have any ideas on what might be wrong with it?

Well she'sgot 214,266 miles on her, I don't know the condition of the fluid but it is a little low. I'm gonna go fill it up in a little while. As far as the drifting goes, it was like that before I even started. It's really funny though b/c after I started getting serious about fixing it itseems to shift fine. I drove it around all day today and it only started in 2nd once.

BTW: Park Avenues drifting sideways at 60 mph down a dirtroad is an awesome site to see.
