Okay, so let's say that I might have this friend, and my friends hood latch cable busted. Not a problem until the battery dies. Now friend needs to open the hood. Is there a secondary way of opening it? Or what do I have to take apart to get to the main latch? Unfortunately I noticed that his front latch isn't the main one.
I have the grill off, but can't see a way of getting up in there.

yeah, it's called not breaking into the engine compartment of the car. theif. hehe j/k.The CABLE that attaches the latch IS physical. if it breaks it's going to be at either end usualy the lever end in the cab of the car. if this is the case, take it apart and locate the cable end and pull. Unfortunatly if you wana get in throught the outside you'll have a hell of a time, the latch is on the rad cradle so usualy that meens behind the rad, usualy there's a service port, you might be able to find it with a flshlight, it'd be about dead center. once found you'd prolly need something like a long hook something like that to grab the wire.

Always check the easyest things first, like I just bought another 90 skylark for parts. The guy I bought it off broke his cable too, he used a crowbar and pryed it open, it worked for him, many times it looks like unfortunatly he made a few good marks I had to fix later. All I did was take apart the leaver in the cab, pinched the cable with a pair o pliers an pulled, shortly after removing the latch so I wouldn't get locked out again
